4 key criteria when selecting your TV mount
Before making a purchase, your selection must consider 4 important criteria relating to your television, in order to determine which mount is compatible with your screen, regardless of which type of mounting you want:
1. SIZE OF THE SCREEN
Length of the diagonal of the screen, in inches or in cm (1 inch = 2.54 cm. E.g. 32-inch screen = 81cm). The unit of measurement for the size of flatscreen TVs tends to be standardised and is now stated in inches.
2. VESA COMPATIBILITY
VESA compatibility refers to the position of the 4 points of attachment located behind the screen, intended by the manufacturer for its mounting. These 4 threaded points of attachment are positioned differently depending on the size, the model of the screen, and the manufacturer. The values W and H (see diagram) represent the VESA standard for a screen. For example, a VESA 400x200 screen means that W=400mm and H=200mm. In order that you can verify the compatibility of your screen with one of our KIMEX mounts, we clearly state the minimum and maximum W and H values compatible with the mount for each of our models. You must then find out the VESA standard for your screen (consult the technical specifications for your TV) or accurately measure the W and H values directly on the back of your screen.
3. WEIGHT OF THE SCREEN
Weight of the television in kg (television only, not including stand). Although the weight of TV screens is continually decreasing, it is important to take this criterion into account.
4. DISTANCE BETWEEN THE WALL AND THE SCREEN
LED back-lighting technology on LCD screens imposes a fundamental criteria when selecting a wall mount: the distance between the wall and the screen. In fact, nothing could be worse than to install a 2 cm-thick LED LCD screen with an 8 cm-thick mount. It looks truly awful. The finer the screen, the finer the wall mount must be, to the point of being practically invisible. We therefore offer a range of mounts that are especially designed for the latest generation of extra-flat LED LCD screens. These extra-fine mounts allow you to position the screen as close as possible to the wall: a minimum of 1.5 cm! The connections are also taken into account. In fact, depending on the television, the connections will be perpendicular or parallel to the screen (especially in the case of LED LCD screens). Some HDMI cables are now articulated and enable connection at 90° in order to save space. Depending on your screen type and the connection used, it is therefore important to allow sufficient space between the wall and the screen, to enable you to establish your various connections.
